Heya! Welcome, peeps to my first ever article on one of the most misunderstood and apathetic topic! (NOT an antonym of pathetic, you guys; apathetic::casual taken, not serious).

EQ: “Emotional intelligence Quotient” is the technical term for soft skills!

So basically there are some skills except your professionally hardcore skills, which are commonly known as Soft Skills! So I have this article for y’all to give a basic insight into what it is like and some tips on how to grasp these!

Here You Go — — >

1. Communication skills:

Communication!

Okay, so we all know how important it is to communicate be it for your first move on someone or your job, more precisely in our personal as well as professional life!

But what happens is the lack of courage to do so!

So to ward this off here are some tips!

Communication skills are broadly categorized into Verbal and Non Verbal Skills!

Verbal skills (Spoken + Written)

The best way to improve this often known skill is to communicate, discuss and at the same time listen too! Listening seems tough? NOO! You have to!

Of course, listening to others helps you retain their perspective and build yours too! Moreover, it also improves your vocabulary and is considered a plus point in team-building skills! Furthermore, you can:

  • Read novels, magazines, English newspapers.
  • Listen to podcasts and interviews especially TED Talks help a lot.
  • Observe closely the main points and the attitude of writing too!

Non-verbal skills:

Body Language

Consist of a wide range of categories with one primary that is body language!

Body Language:

This one is a major factor that everyone meticulously observes.

  • It is said that whether you have been placed within an XYZ company or not is decided within 10 minutes of entering the panel, criteria observed: body language.
  • And even in your general casual life, people tend to notice your mannerisms and your style of doing tasks and so do you!

So try to inculcate those things which you wish to see in others and become the kind of person you like!

Henceforth, remember to keep your expressions and movements strong and clear !!!

2. Leadership Skills/Team Work/Team Building Skills

The second most heard soft skill but equally ignored!

The fact that leadership and teamwork have been placed under the same criteria is because a leader cannot be called one if he isn’t a good team member.

You see a leader is not the one who is always in front of the team to take the credit rather he is at the back of the team as a guide and support. And it is always alright to be so-called “selfless” here!

One needs to understand how to influence people and resolve conflicts if any at the same time!

3. Creativity

Come on now don’t blame your fate for this if in case you think you are not as creative as others! Everyone is, though! It’s just that one needs to unleash that side or hidden trait! You can always:

  • Try out brainstorming activities or some team-spirited activities like Dumb charades, sing-along, etcetera.
  • Indulging in some activities out of your comfort zone like Calligraphy, simple doodling, fluid art can do wonders too and add that extra spice to your life!

And yes, NEVER mistake this section to be junk of time! It might not seem worthy in front of your other work undertakings but it is rather is a major section to be taken care of!

This will train your brain to think out of the box even when you are working solo!

4. Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

O God this term seems such over the top! LOL, no!

So basically to have a command over this skill you need to indulge in other mentioned skills like empathy, communication, problem-solving skills, teamwork, etc.

Because negotiation, mediation, arbitration, creative peacebuilding is a result of the skills, you see!

PHEW!!! So yes, this was it for this article! All of the soft skills are in a way interrelated with each other and so I kinda tried to keep it short yet summarized!

I hope you all liked it!
